The Pneumo Pro® kit includes one training straw, but when you’re teaching a studio full of students, one is never enough! These straws are a simple, affordable tool that makes a real difference in helping students find the correct high-note embouchure.
The straw has a flat end with a tiny opening that mimics the lip opening needed for high notes when not playing forte — giving students immediate tactile and visual feedback.
How to Use Training Straws
- Hold the straw with the wet part of the lips using a flute embouchure
- The tiny opening creates resistance — students feel the correct air support immediately
- Blow packing peanuts or small paper wads off a table — turn it into a competition!
- Write names on a mirror while blowing through the straw to encourage warm, supported air
- Blow through the straw while looking in a mirror, then remove it while maintaining the same lip opening — especially helpful for students with teardrops or multiple lip openings
Each box contains approximately 1,000 straws. You’ll be amazed how quickly they go!
