Choosing A Flute
What's the difference between the beginning flutes, and how do I decide which is best for my student?
1
Mini-Di Flute or Jean Paul Low D Flute
Preschool – early elementaryThe smallest beginning flute, and the easiest to balance. Works especially well for the youngest beginners.
2
Curved Head Joint Flute
Typically ages 6–9A traditional beginning flute with a curved head joint, used instead of a straight head joint until the student's arms are long enough to balance the flute comfortably. Age is a guideline — the student's size is what really matters.
