Flute Zoo Books are a fun, colorful, and engaging way to learn the flute — designed with elementary-age students in mind, though older beginners and adults love them too! Each book is 32–40 pages long, so students quickly build a sense of accomplishment as they progress through the series.
About Flute Zoo Book 3
By the end of Book 3, students will be rock’in — literally! One of the final pieces is the beloved Rockin’ Robin. Students will have mastered notes up to high D and can play pieces in 6 different key signatures — quite an accomplishment! Because the books are carefully sequenced and work together with the Five-Note Fun Sticker Book, students find the transition to key signatures smooth and develop a strong sense of key centers.
Many two-page spreads are theme-based, opening with a flamingo theme and continuing with colorful pages designed to inspire musical expression. Calming background colors and large, easy-to-read staves make the book visually accessible for young learners. Each page is carefully sequenced with built-in review to ensure mastery.
The inside front cover includes a blank staff for note-naming games. Rhythm cards in the back of the book can be cut out and used throughout — students first play rhythms with tied notes, then flip the card to see the standard notation. Many songs have a second part in the Flute Zoo Duet Book. Accompaniment tracks are available here or on YouTube.
The Flute Zoo Five-Note Fun Sticker Book is the essential companion for Books 2 and 3. The final page is a certificate of accomplishment students can proudly display.
The Flute Zoo Advantage
- Tone: Students learn high and low notes from the very beginning, developing embouchure flexibility that is essential for long-term success on the flute.
- Rhythm: Books 1–3 and the Five-Note Fun Sticker Book build a solid rhythmic foundation. In Book 3, rhythm cards help students internalize complex patterns before reading them in standard notation.
- Creative Composing: Each book includes engaging composition activities that develop creativity and reinforce new concepts.
Flute Zoo vs. Blocki Flute Method Book 1
The content of Blocki Flute Method Book 1 covers the same ground as Flute Zoo Books 1, 2, and 3. The Flute Zoo series moves at a slightly slower pace with shorter books, giving younger students a frequent sense of accomplishment. After completing all four Flute Zoo books, students are ready to begin Blocki Flute Method Book 2.
