The Flute Zoo Advantage

Tone & Flexibility: Students learn both high and low notes from the very beginning — on the head joint and with the whole flute. This gives beginners an enormous advantage in embouchure flexibility, which is vital for becoming a great flute player. High notes become difficult when students only play in the lower register for a full year. Flute Zoo prevents that problem from the start.

Rhythm: Flute Zoo Books 1–3 and the Five-Note Fun Sticker Book work together to build a solid rhythmic foundation — including complex rhythms like dotted quarter notes — long before students formally read them. Rhythm cards in Book 3 make the transition seamless.

Creative Composing: Each Flute Zoo book includes engaging composition activities that develop creativity and reinforce new concepts.

Flute Zoo vs. Blocki Flute Method Book 1

The content in Blocki Flute Method Book 1 equals Flute Zoo Books 1, 2, and 3. The Flute Zoo books move at a slightly slower pace and are shorter — giving students a satisfying sense of accomplishment as they complete each book more quickly. After all four Flute Zoo books, students are ready for Blocki Flute Method Book 2.
